Since its inception, the Port Authority of Ravenna has joined and promoted initiatives and actions in support of the sustainable development of the port such as its membership to the ECOPORTS Foundation, its participation in voluntary protocols and the development of requalification projects of port areas.
In July 2011, the Port Authority of Ravenna obtained the certification of its Environmental Management System applied to all the activities / services of the Authority, in accordance with the UNI EN ISO 14001 standards. An important recognition that has required the commitment and involvement of the entire Authority.
Our Environmental Management System has allowed us to improve the awareness of the port reality through an in-depth Initial Environmental Assessment and to establish a policy of continuous improvement of the environmental performance of the Authority, a prerequisite for ensuring safety and environmental quality in the port area.
The Port Authority’s commitment is therefore continuous to identify and pursue actions aimed at economic development compatible with the environment in collaboration with other institutional, social and economic players.
The environmental certification produces a series of advantages such as: internal efficiency, simplification of administrative procedures, reduced costs associated with resource saving opportunities, legal certainty, reduced accident risk as well as benefits derived from the competitiveness and visibility of the port and the improvement in relations with other Authorities.
With the aim of implementing the sustainable development of the entire port-system, the Port Authority of Ravenna promotes and supports its users and port operators through measures in favor of the introduction and use of environmental management tools, in order to initiate a process of continuous improvement.
