Founded in 301 AD by the saint who gave the country its name, the Republic of San Marino is the oldest republic in the world.

Situated just 70 km from Ravenna, San Marino stands on the peaks of Monte Titano, over 750 metres above sea level, offering truly breathtaking panoramic views that span from the Montefeltro area to the Adriatic Riviera.

The republic consists of nine ancient districts, called "castles", including the small capital of San Marino that boasts historical, museum and architectural heritage of outstanding beauty.
