Shipyards and offshore platforms

Added to the progress which has seen the Port of Ravenna transform itself from an industrial port to an active trade centre among the first in Italy, is the development of the shipbuilding industry. The shipyards of Ravenna, which can drydock vessels up to 180 m. in length and 30,000 dwt and also have floating docks, operate in shipbuilding, conversions and maintenance. They can also repair and install all types of engines.

However, the shipbuilding industry of Ravenna is also active in the offshore field.

As a matter of fact, the port of Ravenna is the most important centre for offshore activities in the Adriatic sea. One third of the methane gas consumed in Italy is produced offshore from Ravenna.

In 1992 service companies and subcontractors based in Ravenna set up the Ravenna Offshore Contractors Association (ROCA) which promotes the activities of its associate companies operating worldwide.

ROCA associates have the expertise, advanced technology and experience needed to ensure a leading role in world markets.

Since 1993 ROCA has organised, in collaboration with the Ravenna Chamber of Commerce and "Assomineraria", the Offshore Mediterranean Conference and Exhibition.
